Vocabulary URIs

Vocabularies are published on the understanding that they can be referred to using persistent HTTP URIs. These URIs are intended to be stable, persistent identifiers for vocabulary resources, so care must be taken not to build in any dependency on any particular technology or system which may have a shorter lifespan than the identifier.

The URI pattern to be used in the NEII Environmental vocabulary service will comprise of:

  • A base/root URI: http://www.neii.gov.au/def/voc
  • A flexible keyword to identify product name or other grouping: e.g. NEII, NVIS
  • Vocabulary name – words separated with hyphen (referred to as project Identifier in PoolParty): e.g neii-sampling-regime
  • Concept label e.g. oneOff

An example of a URI is as follows:
